10 HEURISTIC EVALUATION

Based on research that have being made, Jacob nelson is the one who opposed the 10 general Principles for the interactive design. As for all this 10 were called the "Heuristic" as they are broad rules of thumb and indeed not specific usability guidance.

In all the heuristic there has 10 principle such as visibility of system status, match between system and the real world, user control and freedom, consistency and standards, error prevention, recognition rather than recall, flexibility and efficiency of use, aesthetic and minimalist design, help user recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors and lastly is help and documentation. Each of the principal have their own concept to comment the design. To get the best result while using the heuristic principle, a test have being made to a chosen website.

The LAZADA website have being chosen ("www.lazada.com.my") to conducting a heuristic evaluation. The website is more to international business that provide a sell and buy item.

EVALUATION OF WEBSITE USING HEURISTIC EVALUATION.

RECOGNITION RATHER THAN RECALL

”Minimize the user's memory load by making object, actions, and options visible. The user should not have to remember information from one part of the dialogue to another. Instruction for use of the system should be visible or easily retrievable whenever appropriate."(Jacob Nielson, 1994)

Recognition rather than recall is the way how user try to recall back the memory that they have type before. Before this memo or note were user when try to recall something important like listing the order, name, and listing wrap object that hard to sea. Based on web interface, some of the web page have used the recognition system. This is because the recognition system able to minimize the memory of user load past object and open the past option. User just have to jog down the first later and the data will recall back the past browser.

Based on some website that have being research before. Almost all the website used recognition at the search box. When student have use the searching box before, the recognition will happen right away after they type the first letter for the second time. This is because it have being set to save the past memory in the history.

LAZADA webpage have being defined that used the Recognition rather than recall in their system. In LAZADA used the system because their website is about business and more to find an item purchasing. By having Recognition rather than recall user be able to call the name of the item that they want to buy before. Some of people need to think twice before they start to make a decision.

ERROR PREVENTION

Error prevent used for to discussing the error making from the user .It is for assign the blame for the error. User error can be defined as user making a mistake on doing something. There for the designer of the site have to make the security more higher to prevent trouble in registering. Reason using user errors is for make user try harder or make them train more to memorize.

As for new user when try to register in LAZADA site ,they have to put more than 6 word on the password. If user put lest than 6 it will give an error message to user to rewrite the password. This is for making its hard to be hacked by others.

USER CONTROL AND FREEDOM

User control and freedom can be defined similar to undo, redo and also exit to ensure that user able to go back from choosing unnecessary thing or causes by mistake. The website that have being choose have the characteristic that relate to user control and freedom as they allow user to explore more in their website. When user try to purchase the item inside the webpage they will click add cart if want to add it for the purchasing item. So this site provide the user control and freedom because they allow user to remove the item if they don't want to bought it. If user want to buy any item in LAZADA they must register or sign in first so after that they were freely to buy anything in the shop.

FLEXIBILITY AND EFFICENCY OF USE

In Jakob Nielsen Principe for flexibility and effective of use can be explained like a concept giving a new experience for user to use the website. It is more to test user experience when using the website. Before this user might have experience in using the website, they might just click on the shortcut icon without type the item that they want to buy. For inexperience user, they will write the item that they want to buy on the search box and then result will show based on what the item named.

AESTHETIC AND MINIMALIST DESIGN

Based on Jakob Nielsen Principe, the aesthetic and minimalist design mean that the website should make the information more simple and straight to the point and the unnecessary info that should be skip are not included. Inside the LAZADA website, the admin of the website use the aesthetic and minimal design concept for all the image of product. The image include an overview of the product and include a simple necessary basic info that make user understand once they just look on the info such as name of product, price, discount and time even shows. The LAZADA also provide the latest image and info of the product in the site.

The website also show search result of the product in a way that all of people easy to understand. The LAZADA also show the item that almost expired from the listing product.

HELP AND DOCUMENTATION

Help and documentation means that the website provide the step how to overcome the problem when use the site. In this site there were listed some info and guide to solve the problem in the help center inside the customer care.

SUGGESTION

There are several suggestion that have being made after using the 10 heuristic evaluation inside the website. Based on the site that I have conduct the heuristic there are several problem that the site should be improve to make the site more success.

In term of consistence and standard the image arrangement inside the webpage should be arrange more to systematic. Because some user just want to visit the website to buy the product and by the arrangement it will help the promoting of the item sold.

Next , the website should take action improving the error prevention. User that visit the site doesn't notice if the caps lock were open or not. Whenever they try to type their pasword code or register they will having a hard time to fix the error problem.

Lastly is Visibility of system status. Usually when visit the LAZADA website .Mostly they doesn't remove the photo of the sold out item. It will make user that visit the site make a mistake when try to purchase the sold out item. The visibility should be upgrade to more alert.

CONCLUSION

As for conclusion, student seen more understand about how the website work well by it design concept and have their own experience making an evaluation on the choosing website .Indeed, usability is the most important concept that should be follow and focus on to test the website if it is good source for user. The information is use full for student in future and student have complete the task with lots of knowledge and experience while learning the heuristically evaluation by Jakob Nielsen.
